FARMERS IMAGE OF THE WEEK

Raini Rowell

Farmers Image of the Week: Effortless Elopement Photography

This elopement image by Raini Rowell captures an effortless blend of elegance and intimacy. There’s a grounded beauty to the composition, with the bride’s gentle smile and relaxed stance giving the photo an inviting warmth. The natural surroundings and muted tones create a quiet, almost timeless atmosphere, while the soft textures of the bride’s dress add a touch of romance against the rugged, rustic backdrop.

What really stands out is the way Raini has created a sense of comfort and ease. It’s clear that the bride is fully present – The glance back towards the camera brings the viewer in, making it feel personal, as if we’re a part of this elopement experience. The soft, diffused light enhances the textures in her dress and veil without overpowering the natural elements, giving everything a cohesive, harmonious look.

Raini’s approach here doesn’t feel overly posed; instead, it’s a lovely example of how a photographer can guide clients into natural moments that still feel elevated and refined. This image exemplifies Raini’s skill in capturing both the quiet elegance of the moment and the personality of the couple. It’s a wonderful example of how an elopement can be photographed with sophistication and warmth, without feeling forced or overly polished.

WHAT RAINI SAID

Starting later in the day meant we were able to visit this special wee place after-hours, when any visitors were long gone.

This image was taken in July when the days are still really long. We’d headed out in the evening in search of locations which had a more mystical feel which would align with Chloe + Jake’s vision for a fairytale elopement. Starting later in the day meant we were able to visit this special wee place after-hours, when any visitors were long gone. This moment in particular was at the start of the session and we were lucky to have a mix of evening sun and stormy blue clouds – a Scottish elopement photographer’s favourite combo! I absolutely loved their colourful style, especially with the pink layered dress + veil, which popped wonderfully against any backdrop we had that evening.

THE TECH TALK

Farmers Image Of The Week: Effortless Elopement Photography

This image was captured at the beginning of our time together. Usually during this time we’re slowly getting used to the camera and that means easy gentle directions which aren’t too intimate. Often, I’ll invite a couple to just walk hand in hand to loosen them up (a little tip I learned from Sean Bell!). Sometimes I like to call out one of their names to see if I can catch a nice expression as they look over their shoulder to respond. I have to admit that 7/10 times it doesn’t really work out (awkward expression etc.) but it’s worth it for the odd time it does work. This was one of those times haha.
