London Wedding Night Portrait: Farmers Image Of The Week
This image from Katie Goff stopped me in my scroll. It captures one of those wedding day pauses that often go unseen. A quiet reconnection, a little exhale, a shared breath between the couple in the middle of the buzz and energy of a celebration. And what better place for a pause than beneath the glowing lights of Tower Bridge?
London can serve as a sharp, stylish backdrop at any time of day. But after dark? It’s got a magic all of its own. This image captures that, with the sparkling lights reflecting on the water and illuminating just enough of the couple to bring focus to their gesture one whisper, one hold, one press of cheek to cheek. It’s romantic without being posed, intimate without feeling intrusive.
In her write-up, Katie admits that this might not tick every technical box. But I’d argue that trying to perfect the exposure or add flash would’ve stripped this scene of what makes it so affecting. You don’t always need the most ‘correct’ settings sometimes, you just need to be quick, observant, and human. Because some images don’t want to be lit. They want to be felt.
There’s also real intentionality in Katie’s use of composition. The famous bridge arcs across the frame but doesn’t steal attention it just holds space, framing this beautiful private exchange in the middle of one of the busiest cities in the world. That juxtaposition is powerful.
This is why we keep doing Farmers Image Of The Week. To celebrate not just polished technique, but the ability to read the room, or in this case, the riverside, and respond accordingly. A big congratulations to Katie for letting her instincts lead and for capturing such a meaningful London wedding night portrait.

“ They chose to marry at the Tower of London with Luke’s dad serving years as a beef eater.”
This shot was taken during a sweet quiet moment towards the end of the reception with Luke and Jake taking a quiet moment together to take in the whole day and to admire the view of Tower Bridge in London from the reception on the grounds of the Tower of London.
They chose to marry at the Tower of London with Luke’s dad serving years as a beef eater at the tower so this venue was really special for them as a couple.
THE TECH TALK
London Wedding Night Portrait: Farmers Image Of The Week

With it being a candid moment, I had to act fast on taking the shot before the moment went as I ran across the road from the reception to take this shot.
If I had more time and gear to hand, I would have loved to have included a flash to light up the couple with it being shot at night time but instead acted on instinct to get the shot of a sweet moment of intimacy between the couple.
