URBAN, POETIC, MINIMALISM
Thrive Brighton by Ginger’s Eyes

“My favourite images aren’t always the most perfect, they’re the ones that carry tension, atmosphere, life.” – ANNA, GINGER’S EYES
When we invited Anna from Ginger’s Eyes to join our mentor lineup for Thrive Brighton, we all knew she would bring something extraordinary to day two.
Her work sits at the intersection of fashion and emotion – sculptural, detail-led, and rooted in a strong sense of narrative.
So the question was never whether she’d create something exceptional. It was simply how she’d reinterpret the streets of Brighton through her lens.
Her concept was clear from the start:
A bride gracefully woven into the rhythm of the contemporary city — a poetic interplay between sculptural garments and stark urban minimalism.
This wasn’t a traditional bridal editorial. It was a celebration of contrast: strength meeting softness, heritage meeting rebellion, femininity meeting edge.
One of the unique elements of Thrive is that each mentor has complete creative freedom for their sessions. They can build everything themselves or collaborate with our team to bring their concept to life.
Anna chose the latter – and she curated every detail.
From the professional model Thaisa, to the sculptural garments, to the ethereal accessories (veils, capes, gloves and delicate embellishments).
Anna treated the city streets as a blank canvas on which to unfold a modern bridal story.
Watching her build the shoot from the ground up was a masterclass in intention. Nothing was accidental. Every texture, every silhouette, every corner of the city was chosen because it fed into the narrative she wanted to create.
The contrast between handcrafted, detail-rich garments and the clean lines of the urban architecture created the tension Anna was looking for.
Learning Alongside Anna From Ginger’s Eyes
Embracing opportunity and harmonious clash is where Anna’s work thrives:
- minimal silhouettes paired with ornamental detailing
- softness set against angular backdrops
- ethereal fabrics catching the wind between concrete and steel
And guiding it all was Thaisa, moving with the confidence and sensitivity of a professional muse, shaping the garments through motion rather than static poses.
Anna didn’t force anything. She responded to the environment, letting the city guide the rhythm of the shoot. It was, in the truest sense, editorial storytelling in motion. Placing her model in the window of All Saints? Sure. Taking over a traditional pub at lunchtime? Why not?
THRIVE
THE SHOOT EXPERIENCE
Walking the City as a Living Editorial Set
This was the first time – in all the years I’ve produced Thrive – that I’ve been able to actually take part in a Day Two shoot. Usually, I’m behind the scenes making sure everything runs smoothly but the team had everything beautifully under control.
But I am so glad I stepped in for this one.
Watching Anna select locations, play with framing, and transform Brighton into the set for an avant-garde bridal editorial was a privilege. Seeing her process up close made it clear why her work stands out: she isn’t looking for the perfect spot, she is creating the perfect story.
What I Learned From Anna
Anna reminded me – and everyone attending – of three vital lessons:
Be bold in your ideas.
Safe work rarely leads to memorable work.
Be confident in the execution.
Commit fully. Don’t hesitate on the details.
See obstacles as opportunities.
Crowded streets, weather, unexpected textures, all of it can elevate the frame if you’re willing to let it.
But my favourite reminder was this:
Your subject is your collaborator, not just your model.
Thaisa wasn’t simply following Anna’s direction, she was part of the creative process. That synergy is what takes editorial wedding photography into new territory.
