We have a fabulous new section for you in The Barn called Ask Tigz that was inspired by The Farmers who every now and then come up with an image that needs more than a basic fix in Photoshop. It could be an image grabbed at a wedding that has significance but wasn’t great in camera, a request from a client to alter something that you are unsure how to do or like this instance… a job that is outside of your normal repertoire and requires very specific Photoshop skills.
I have met Tigz a few times and adore her incredible Boudoir and Burlesque Photography but she also works for both Adobe and Wacom and is a specialist retoucher. We are kicking off the series with a product shot that I produced for a commercial client. The bottles needed to be lit from behind to show the luminance but they wanted a pure white background and also required the coloured shadow to be included. Achieving all of these things in camera is impossible, plus as the bottles are handmade, the edges are not quite straight so the cut-out was quite challenging. Product shots can be a great additional income and knowing how to create them with that white background but still maintaining a natural look can be a valuable skill.
We would love for you to send us your own images for Ask Tigz. Ideally pop the raw file in a dropbox folder and invite Tigz to join including a brief note on what needs fixing firstname.lastname@example.org
