I have been taking photos for over 10 years now & I can’t think of anything I’d rather be doing. When I was growing up I painted a lot and wanted to be an artist: photography is my medium. I first started photography at school, the art department had a darkroom and it was here that I first learnt to shoot on film and develop my negatives. The process of seeing your images appearing on the paper amazed me and it was like magic. I fell in love with photography instantly. I left school at 16 and went to college to study photography. We covered lots of subjects from pinhole to studio photography. By looking at photography in a historical context I was constantly inspired by the work of social documentary and fashion photographers from William Eggleston to Paolo Reversi. A lot of my projects leaned towards fashion photography and I knew that this was the direction I wanted to go in.

After shooting for a wedding photographer in Kent for a couple of years I moved to London and went to Uni in Epsom where I studied fashion promotion and imaging – specialising in photography and styling. Throughout my course I shot weddings at the weekends and interned within the fashion industry. I then went to assist a portrait photographer at the Observer and this experience really opened up my eyes to freelancing and having my own business. I gained invaluable lighting experience and began to make my own contacts and receive editorial commissions. Over the past 5 years I have continued to shoot weddings, fashion and portrait photography. My experience of shooting these subjects in editorial work has heavily influenced my approach to how how I shoot weddings and how I see the world.

I love how these subjects lend themselves to each other and I can shoot wedding styled shoots like the recent commission for Rock N Roll Bride magazine and also bring the way I shoot fashion stories to my couples when I shoot weddings. I love shooting weddings and telling the narrative of a wedding day in a similar way that I would shoot a fashion story. I enjoy finding beauty in the everyday. I still shoot a lot of work on film and love experimenting and testing new ideas.
