Last week we had another of our Shoot Days. These portfolio building days that we produce are crazy hectic but a lot of fun. I have two main aims with these days –
1. Creating incredible content for all the attendees and the team involved.
2. Inspiring the photographers that attend to try creating their own portfolio shoots.
Kirsty Mackenzie is just flying with that second part and I’m excited to see what she does next and then after that. She’s excelling at coming up with ideas that haven’t already been done and then executing the shoots to an incredibly high standard. This isn’t the first of her self motivated shoots to win Image Of The Week, and I’m pretty sure it won’t be her last.
The styling on this shoot is on fire and Kirsty has found the most perfect backgrounds in London to carry off her bold 90s pop theme. If Marley and Clara were a band, I’d be downloading their album right now. Yes I’m a fan of all of this, that Bowen Dryden two piece, the pink suit, this vibe and their love.
See what Kirsty had to say about this shot below…
What KIRSTY had to say…
“This shoot was inspired by bold & modern 90s Pop! I love being inspired by music eras and I wanted to create something fun and super colourful. So cue all the bright colours and edgy vibes. I knew I didn’t want a white dress for this shoot so having a rainbow glitter two piece by Bowen Dryden was the PERFECT fashion piece.
I also wanted to create some inspiration to show that not all elopements need to be fancy or expensive. Getting married to your love can be as easy as nipping to your local registry office, wearing something you feel fierce in, and heading out around London to enjoy the sites and street art!
The main focus of this shot was really getting the models comfortable. Marley & Clara are a real couple and had never done a shoot before so connecting with them on a human level and getting them to feel confident was super important.”
