Farmers Image Of The Week #317

DJI Mavic 2 Pro

How are we all doing in this wintry week? It’s been sunny here in Brighton but so, so cold. So how about a nice trip down under to brighten our days?

I’m always super impressed with Australian photographer Eric Ronald’s work and I was thrilled to get him to Farm last year. He’s a mavric, he does his own thing and wherever in the world that he shoots, he seems to bring a unique vision.

His toolkit is a little different to most. He likes Profoto lights, he edits in Capture One and as you can see, he has a drone. And what a brilliant way to make the most of this incredible landscape – shooting from the sky, incorporating much of this extraordinary place with the couple embracing in the centre – it’s a truly magical image. How stunning would this look printed really big?

What Eric says ...

‘Mel & Dan wanted to do a little pre wedding shoot ahead of their wedding which goes down in a few months time. We wanted to go that bit extra rather than the hit the usual Melbourne hotspots so we ventured several hours out of Melbourne to the Pink Hills. When I rocked up with the couple I was #mindblown, however creatively the challenge this location poses is to actually do this epic moonscape/marscape justice. It was for that reason I took to the skies with my DJI Mavic 2 Pro to get this bird’s eye perspective. Now, although they are called the ‘pink’ hills, some areas including this one are only slightly pink. This is where the advanced colour controls of Capture One came in handy where I could really dial in that pink so it looked just right. I feel very blessed to work with couples that love what I do and are up for stuff a little different – so I never have a drama getting them to dirty their outfits and lay on rocks, roads, wet grass etc.’
