I can’t believe it is almost a year since our first Farmers Image of the Week, do you remember this epic image by Neil Thomas Douglas that kicked it all off?
I guess when I started this, I was just really wanted to give the Farmers some recognition for working hard and pushing themselves in both shooting and business. Wedding photography can be quite an isolating job… you are always at someone’s else’s party and then desk bound for a lot of the rest of your working week. So I wanted to offer them some kind of reward for seeking out the unexpected, the epic or the beautiful whether at a wedding, a portrait session or a personal project.
Since then, week after week I have made sure that I see as much of their latest work as I can ~ I also want to encourage the Farmers to keep on top of their social media for business. One thing I tell them time and time again at workshops is that all the peripheral stuff is good to do but at the heart of a successful photography business is someone taking amazing pictures and making sure that they are seen.
So this week, I will choose the last of this year’s weekly winners and then a small panel will judge all the images and we are having an awards ceremony in Brighton. It may well be just an excuse to get together, have a few drinks and celebrate how far the Farmers have come but I’m so proud of each and every one of them. For those that have not yet won.. we will start a new year straight after this, so keep looking for an award winning shot. Remember the most brilliant shot will very rarely be found in your comfort zone so when you have the safe shot… go for the epic… If you are one of the lucky Farmers that has won this year, then here are the categories and what prizes are up for grabs with each of them… #farmersawards
