This week for me, feels like the season is peaking. The heat and storms have added an unpredictability and additional stress to our job, I’ve been traveling here there and everywhere shooting and so it seems have the Farmers. I’m seeing images on beaches, in cornfields, woodlands and city streets with all of them embracing the environment and the challenges that wedding photography can bring. I love epic shots, I love narrative and I love emotion in wedding photos. However sometimes simple can be more expressive and this is why I have chosen this image by Hannah Millard, in a world where it seems that sometimes wedding photographs have to have some huge drama to get attention, be that extreme elements or eloping to a waterfall in Iceland, it is nice to be reminded that sometimes we are just here to take a picture of an ordinary girl in an extraordinary dress on a extraordinary day in her life. I know this is behind the focus but I like that.. it gives it even more of an ethereal quality. I know for a fact that wedding days are rarely perfect so I happily embrace imperfection…
